Cassette Roller Blinds

Overview

Cassette Roller blinds are the ideal solution in areas such as school classrooms, photographic laboratories, hospitals, conference rooms and many other situations where complete darkness is required They are also ideal as insect screens when manufactured using a mesh type of fabric which makes them ideal for kitchens, restaurants and any other environment where food is present and a high level of hygiene is required.

Unlike standard roller blinds, the fabric of a cassette roller blind is fully enclosed within the cassette frame so that when the blind is fully down, no light is allowed to enter the room around the edges of the blind. The roller tube is housed within a powder coated aluminium top box which is fitted across the top of the window, the sides of the fabric are enclosed into U shaped side channels which are fitted down either side of the window and the bottom of the fabric can either have a brush seal fitted to the bottom edge or again a U shaped channel can be fitted across the bottom width of the window so that when the blind is lowered, the fabric is enclosed within the bottom channel and so preventing any light from entering the room.

Fabrics

As with our vertical, standard roller and pleated blinds, the range of fabric patterns and colours that we are able to offer you is enormous but generally due to the specific requirements of a cassette blind to either provide total blackout or prevent insects from entering an area they are manufactured using either a blackout fabric for room darkening or a mesh fabric for insect screens.

Cassette Top Box

As previously mentioned, the roller tube and fabric is housed within an aluminium top box and depending on the application and size of the blind, the cassette box can vary in size from 40mm square for small blinds up to 150mm square for large blinds.

Side Channels

Telescopic system - the channels are powder coated aluminium and with this system each side channel is made up of two parts, one of which slides inside the other which then provides some lateral adjustment which is particularly useful if the window reveal is not quite square.

Zip system - the channels are powder coated aluminium, they of one piece construction and the fabric has a zip welded to the vertical edge of the fabric which then locates into the side channels. This system is particularly suited where there is a possibility of the fabric being pulled out of the side channels due to windows being left open when the blind is down.

Bottom Bar

The bottom bar is again powder coated aluminium and can either have a brush seal fitted or a U shaped channel can be fitted across the bottom of the window into which the bottom of the blind will fit.

Powder Coating

The cassette top box, side channels and bottom channel are all powder coated as standard in white or black but at an extra cost they can also be powder coated in the colour of your choice.

Operation

Depending on the particular requirements to be met and the size of the blind, the method of operation can be either.

Hand operated - This method of operation is suitable for small to medium size blinds where the bottom bar is easily reachable and is achieved by means of a handle which is fitted to the bottom bar.

Side chain operated - This method of operation is suitable for small to medium size blinds and is by means of a continuous loop bead chain which can be fitted at either end of the blind.

Gearbox operated - This method of operation is suitable for medium to large blinds and is by means of a crank handle which operates a gearbox fitted inside the cassette top box and can be fitted at either end of the blind.

Electrically operated - Although this method of operation is suitable for all sizes of blinds, it is particularly suitable for medium to large blinds and blinds at high level where other methods of operation would not be possible or practical. The blinds are controlled electrically by means of remote control from either a hand held remote device or a wall mounted remote control switch. With this method of operation, if several blinds are to be installed together, each blind can be operated individually or all the blinds can be operated together or a combination of individual and group control can be achieved.

Twin Blind Cassette System

The twin blind system is a cassette roller blind which has 2 fabrics and so allows you to have 2 different types of fabric within the same cassette system. One fabric could be a blackout fabric and one could be a dim out fabric.

Fabrics - The same range of extensive fabrics that are available with the single blind cassette system are also available with the twin blind cassette system.

Cassette top box - The cassette top box is 150mm square powder coated aluminium and houses both roller tubes for the two different types of fabric.

Side channels - The side channels are only available in the zip system.

Bottom bar - The bottom bar is again powder coated aluminium and can either have a brush seal fitted or a 'U' shaped channel can be fitted across the bottom of the window into which the bottom of the blind will fit.

Powder CoatingThe cassette top box, side channels and bottom channel are all powder coated the same as the single blind system in either white or black and again at an extra cost they can also be powder coated in the colour of your choice.

Operation - Electric operation is the only method of operation that is available for the twin blind cassette system.
